You could, instead of seperating your system, seperate your patterns. Make an Ore = Dust pattern and a dust=ingot pattern. It may take longer to make items, but if you have the kind of system setup I think you do it shouldn't have to much issue with that.

Yep, they'll slowdown to .4, which is basically the loss rate from conduits. Uses an incredibly small amount of lava to keep going at that point though.

Actually, I want to say it was setup so any non-player entity was considered 'sneaky'. Try it, put a conduit in front of a deployer with a wrench and slap a button on it.

If they are not plugged into a redstone energy conduit, they are basically filling up with internal power and over-loading. Plugging them into conduit makes them 'smart' and slow down to what is being requested.

There's a way to figure this out actually, just takes a bit of time, and changing some configs around. You can mess with the ic2 miner and only have dirt/stone/gravel in the config, that will remove almost everything except ores
