Optfine can lock it all the way down to 5fps.

While I will admit its highly unlikely the same thing would happen at more or less the same time to nvidia and ati this problem did appear to be caused by a driver update for me and you don't always need to "push a button" to get automatic updates.

I got that after I updated my graphics drivers a day or two ago. I got rid of it by changing graphics options in both minecraft and my graphics card. Can't remember what it was I changed.

That might be because its being put into the pagefile/virtual memory instead of actual ram, a hard disk is a lot slower then ram. Any idea if anyone has done some kind of test for that?

I would say is first option is to download it then start the FTB launcher and make sure the pack you are going to add it to has already been downloaded. once you have done that click the edit mod pack button then the the add mod. Use the file browser to find the mod you downloaded and select it...

Just going to say, with my system in a fresh world when there none/very little machines optfine will actually lower my FPS but once I have a base setup it took me from 10-15 to constant 30 fps. I am guessing it would have been higher if I was not limiting it to 30.

I guess you both missed the private pack feature they are adding to the launcher which means all you need to do is give out a code to be entered in the launcher and it will do the rest.

Its a memory/ram issue. Try going to to the options menu in the launcher and play about with the ram size to see if that helps.

Well there is quite a few things that can help with building but with exploring, aka weapons and armour, then you would need to progress pretty far down the tech trees but that would be for FTB not Magic Pack. But looking at the magic pack mod list these could help with you building Filler...

What do you do in normal unmodded MC? One of the mods will expand on that but since I have no clue what you did I can't point you in any direction.
