Not sure if it is just an oversight by me, but that doesn't seem to hold for coconuts.
I got a coconut sapling by using bonemeal on a gras block. As it did not drop any saplings i wanted to craft a sapling to no avail. This made me curious as i had the same problem with world-gen peaches...
