yes, vanilla is easy. ftb is shockingly easy regardless of what pack or setting is chosen. still, many players want it even easier - look at what's requested in the computercraft forums. those guys want turtles that do every single thing for them. at that point, why bother?

well, after searching thru 3 sub-forums and 198 of 1 poster's responses, i found only 1 borderline relevant post, in which the poster was lambasted for lacking imagination and links to building more of the same old stuff. i asked what games are played within this game, provided a few examples...

not only do i have no imagination, but i can't search worth a damn. i have found nothing in the effectively identical general ftb chat, general discussion and mod discussion sub-forums. could you point me to where these tons of threads might be?

you're talking about packs, not individual mods, right? and that's not a gross exaggeration - i said that was my guess. from what i've seen and what more experienced players have told me, the number of single mod players is dwarfed by vanilla and ftb.

i would define that as gameplay. simply going through the motions of crafting an I Win!!! button, even an "expensive" one, is not gameplay.

well, what percentage of their users come from ftb? my guess is "almost all". is there another mod pack to play (don't say tekkit)? how many modded minecraft players choose vanilla + 1 mod? my guess for that is "almost zero" when compared to vanilla and ftb. i'd be shocked if there was a...

imo, instant transportation is another area where mods have reduced the game to nothingness. you don't mine, you don't farm, you don't fight (a worthy opponent, at least) and you don't even walk/boat/fly/train any more.
