    ReactorCraft - clever reactor setups?

I saw your imgur shortly after you posted. Fantastic job. Can you give some details on how long it took to buold and some of the logistics? Where's the a H-2 and H-3 coming from? Just finished my fusion reactor in ssp yesterday. Haven't started it yet though. Glad Reika mentioned the injector...

    ReactorCraft - clever reactor setups?

The thermal neutron absorption cross-section for Sodium is about 0.400 barns, compared to Oxygen at 0.002 and Boron (Used in control rods to catch neutrons) at 758.86 barns. (7k barns for Cd and 180 for In). That's for reference. For fissioning U-235 you need thermal (slow) neutrons. Water...

ReactorCraft again - This time with Breeders

The PBR is in real life is part of a class called "High-Temperature Reactors." High as in upwards of 600 C. Regular reactors on the other hand run 350 C on the high end. So, to answer your question, you would have a hard time getting the normal cores hot enough to use CO2 or sodium. The regular...

No, Reika has specifically said no water boilers on PBRs. I believe he even enforced it in v24. Also, you GT guys are welcome to join the GT ftb server. Message me if you want the info. We'd be happy to have you.

    ReactorCraft - clever reactor setups?

Ah, the Shippingport reactor. That one breeds Th-232 to U-233, so the water's moderation isn't a problem. Thorium breeders aren't the same as Uranium breeders, so I'd say Reika's comment was pretty accurate.

    ReactorCraft - clever reactor setups?

I think you're referring to Fermi-1, a prototype Fast Breeder Reactor in Ohio. It suffered a partial fuel meltdown and was cancelled. Fermi-1 was sodium-cooled, and in fact, a failure of a valve controlling sodium flow was said to be at fault. Now, for the reasoning: You wouldn't want a...

ReactorCraft again - This time with Breeders

Behold! Pictures! http://imgur.com/a/V0rIq I included brief descriptions for each pic so you don't have to go back and forth. Also because I don't know how to add pictures in a post (first time on a forum). So, Pyure, about those BWR/LWR (Light Water Reactors). I'm actually a Nuclear...

ReactorCraft again - This time with Breeders

Very nice. I did a PBR as my first power reactor so I wouldn't have to enrich uranium. The PBR maxed out one turbine + turbine generator, thus meeting my power needs for the near term, so I brought online the breeders in order to work on deuterium/tritium for a fusion reactor. They lend a bit...

ReactorCraft again - This time with Breeders

This looks great, Pyure. I keep having trouble getting the HP Turbine to render. Every time I add a new layer it seems to freak out. Anyface, your setup looks beast. I have a pebble bed and two small breeders whose primary output is deuterium and tritium. It's honestly not worth posting pics...
