Just in case anyone has the same problem, poppy seeds need to be planted on un-tilled garden soil. If you till it, it won't let you plant it. Is this intended? Also, it seems that tiled garden soil stays tilled even after I break it.

I have the same issue. The buttons still work. The top one gets you to the single player world menu.

You don't need to download a map. Just create a new world, and it will make the map for you.
