Hmmm, not too sure whats happening. Try force updating the pack by going into the options tab in the Feed The Beast Launcher and hit force update also if you added any other mods that might be the issue.

For the mini-map, open up your Feed The Beast launcher and hit edit modpack then remove either zan's mini-map or map writer. For the waila issue, open your inventory click on options the hit the world button there should but show tool tips set that to on or off.
