You certainly did. ;) I've actually always wanted to do a base like this, but always thought it was unrealistic, and then Etho comes along and does it without mods, so I thought I'd build the one I'd had in my mind all this time, but with a little help from mods ofc.

Yeahhh... I was considering the Arcane Levitator, but I can't simply walk off a ledge and drop to the necessary level to go down, because 2 are needed for 30 blocks, and it sort of catches you without letting you drop... Though it's perfect for going up. And I haven't looked at the laser mod...

Ah, then I apologize. I dislike mining to be honest, so if I ever use mystcraft purely for mining, I just stick dense ores on and put up with the effects, so I just assumed that it was typical of mystcraft that it generates all ores.

I doubt this, perhaps you just haven't come across different ores yet? As far as I understand, mystcraft generates everything in the forge list-of-ores-thingy (has a name, but I cant remember it) rather than respecting configs... Though I'm just repeating what I've heard

I can only speak for myself here, but if I'd put so much effort into writing a mod like redpower, I doubt I'd not publish at least that version before I stopped? Even if what they were saying was true, I doubt Elo would just not publish, mainly because she'd know people would act up even more...

Ah, thank you very much. I wasn't aware that quarries themselves acted as chunk loaders, it was always my experience that you needed some form of chunk loading block from other mods in order to keep them functioning. Well, off to build myself quarry. :D

by iridium thing, do you mean the lack of it? If so, just take an advanced drill and a power source, and get to work on a mystcraft world with about 10 dense ore symbols - and set it to bright & flat. Sure, you have to put up with all the negative buffs, but if you make one with a star fissure...

Oh, I was just about to add this. If you really want to get used to everything, watch Direwolf20's letsplay on youtube. You can either start with season 4 - though most of the mods will be outdated- or wait a while for season 5 (which I expect will be rather soon and including the FTB pack)
