Ya it's a bit rough. Just finished my first run with Mass Fab to get full Quantum Armor and an Ultimate Solar channel.. takes FOREVER even with six recyclers feeding it non-stop. I'm in same boat as OP, was very annoyed when I found the ore but it wasn't usable in IC2.

Update: Resolved! Issue is storage bus + JABBA barrels. Removed barrels from network and everything is happy again. --- So this started happening to me after the 1.21 Infinity patch which doesn't update AE2 and thus has me completely stumped. I have a basic autocrafting setup that has worked...
