Your thoughts on the Technic Platform?

Alright I'll play the devil's advocate for a while (before this turns into a flamewar and verbal slapfight). Disclaimer, I am in no way associated with the Technic team, my views are only my own and do not represent their views or stances. All the Platform does is takes files that you, the...

Your thoughts on the Technic Platform?

If it does what I think it does, very good. It is the next natural step from pre-built modpacks, and it's about time someone wrote something like this. I really hope FTB implements something similar, or I expect people and servers to switch over. I would certainly consider it were it not for the...

    Sorting Issues

If I had a diamond every time someone posts an issue with a picture of a jammed sorting machine... ;) I admit it could be difficult to diagnose if you don't know what the light means. One misplaced item will jam the machine completely, so even items that worked previously won't enter it any more.

    Barrels & RP2

Without screenshots, the only thing I can say is pump stuff from the top of a barrel, extract stuff from the bottom. I am unclear why do you think you need a whole three barrels of saplings as a buffer. I always get by with the space in the hopper alone.

    Applied Energistics

I don't think energy will ever be a huge concern. Energy (both BC and IC) can be trivially generated in unlimited or nearly unlimited quantities at a moderate speed. If that is enough energy for a network, it won't really be a concern by the time you gather all the quartz. If on the other hand...

    Applied Energistics

Yes, definitely better in the sense of faster, more efficient, easier to set up. But I am not sure whether it would be more enjoyable - at least for my playstyle (technically oriented). I like the complications, overcoming challenges with different systems, trying to pick the best tool for every...

    Applied Energistics

What I'm saying is, in my base I have right now: Redpower sorting machines to distribute items to processing chains. Enderchests moving the items into machine rooms. GregTech machinery automating input/output of machines. Buildcraft pipes where I need an extremely compact setup and I am in no...

    Exploits in mindcrack?

There's a massive difference between putting somebody in jail, potentially causing life-long physical and mental trauma, and making someone find a new server in a computer game. Anyway, back on topic, you might want to disable MiscPeripherals computer controlled crafter and sorter, they can...

Very much a leftover, yes. One (pretty trivial) advantage is that you can potentially stack food coming from different sources. You also remove negative effects from, for example, zombie flesh.

    Applied Energistics

From what I can tell from the spotlight, it sounds really clever. However I am slightly concerned that it does too much, essentially obsoleting every other storage/sorting system. I don't know how balanced the power or resource costs come out to be, but this is definitely a concern. The...

    Exploits in mindcrack?

Running a server properly is a lot of work. It doesn't end with starting the game and making a forum post. If you won't take good care of the server, it will never be great. And, *puts a flame-resistant suit on* It's better for an innocent but suspicious person to get banned than for a cheater...

    Exploits in mindcrack?

A very roundabout way of doing it would be to disable crafting of the workbench, and give everyone who wants to start TC an infusion altar for free. However, regardless of what you do, you can't always patch up all the holes without ruining legit people's experience. In my opinion the right way...

    Gravisuite v1.7 Update Discussion

I thought about this for a while. If I had any say in it, I would: - Cut the EU storage down to 100,000 EU. This makes it equivalent to nano armor. - Remove powering up tools. This is my major problem with it. The resource cost seems fine for an advanced jetpack, but not for a concept breaker...

Cost of what? Mixed metal alloys? Anything shown in the screenshots can be easily obtained in the first few hours of a new world.

    Gravisuite v1.7 Update Discussion

I am very disappointed. It turns GraviSuite from a set of great end-game gear to just another "here, have a tool/chestpiece that does everything" mod.

Be precise in the naming of items. I have a feeling that you are confusing redstone tubes and redstone conduits. Redstone tubes are pneumatic tubes from Redpower which can transport items, and transmit a redstone signal. A redstone signal is not a source of power, it is just a signal to turn...
