There are canvas bags which require a fair amount of string. Or backpacks If you're planning on using the pocket crafting table, I find it's best to use in conjunction with bags or backpacks as you use a 3x3 section of your inventory.

The hoppers will still feed in odd amounts though, you could use a filter or similar to only supply even numbers of ores.

Welcome :) as for your questions, a, there's loads of good tutorials and wikis kicking about. What mod pack are you using, if you go for the Direwolf pack then watch Direwolf20's videos. As for wiki's it depends on what you're starting out with. b, I don't know what you mean :)

Whitelist or modpack version would be the first two places to look.

It's more the mode selection side of things for me, what each mode does etc. I need to read up a little more. I've watched direwolf setting things up in his videos, but he tends to go a little quick.

I'm getting there with my sorting system, I find it odd that there are no roll-over tips for the different modes in the sorting machine, the pictures aren't exactly clear as to what each mode does.

can anyone clarify if the "closest inventory" side of things is done on direct distance (as the crow flies) or via the tube network?

I'm having a similar kind of problem with my set up. Try running the tube from the ender chest to the top right corner (above the barrels) maybe this will sort it. And maybe place a restriction tube between the second sorter and the barrels.

Supposedly this is only when inserting from the bottom. Have you tried it inserting from the top?

Use a second ender pouch maybe?

It's one of those things, there's no use just yet, but will there be later. For things not easily sorted I use a diamond chest at the end of my system and anything that doesn't have a rightful place ends up there.

For me I would say the simplest work around is to fill the input inventory slots with bog earth, well fill apart from half a stack. That way the soil will have to go in the bottom output slots. Then whenever the farm outputs 8 soil into the ACT setup, it will craft 8 bog earth to refill stocks...

yep, the quartz can be a little troublesome

the farm hatch should prevent dirt from entering as it's not required. Or are you running multiple crops/stuff on the same multi farm? The waste dirt should go into one of the bottom two inventory boxes
