They do care. For instance, you have to put each type of microblock you are trying to sort into the machine, even though they share the same ID. I've ran into this problem with sorting armor- it just won't go through if it doesn't match the damage value of the armor in the sorting machine.

I've got a GT matter fabricator going, but only on about 1/5th or so of the power you're generating. I've got 3 extruders on top of 3 recyclers and the fabricator's buffer is always filled with scrap. Haven't bothered to bump up the speed yet.

Is that a GT matter fabricator or standard IC2 Mass Fabricator?

Their default behavior is to damage you- hard, through armor. You won't be able to tank too many hits in a large array of them, but it's easy enough to breed that trait out or use Extra Bees machines to get a better passive.

Another option would be to void the junk and sit igneous extruders on top of the recyclers. They're not anywhere as fast, but it's slow and steady versus quick and intermittent. Leave them chunkloaded on a server and you'll be swimming in the stuff. Add more extruders per recycler if you need it...

Just put a melee turtle (or turtles) at the choke point and kill them there. Fill the turtles inventory with junk and make room behind it for the items to be spit out and into whatever you're planning to do with them. The XP orbs will drop down the chute.
