I completely agree. Tekkit became stale because everyone had the same kind of build, no real reason for originality. I love playing in completely different ways to other people, I find it makes the game more fun.

I guess you kind of have to think of it in its existing state before being dyed. A black dye on something brown would probably just darken it and a blue would probably end up being gray. I'm just guessing but I quite like havin these more muted colours in place of the vibrancy of the wool.

The clay kinda makes sense as its just meant to be stained.

I dont quite understand why you need to use advanced options to generate the world, but you could just create the world in single player and transfer the file from saves to the server. Just rename that folder "world" and the server should automatically recognise it as world to load

I'm not 100% sure of what you mean but are you talking about generating a new world by running the server? Because as long as Biomes O' Plenty is installed server side then it should generate you a new world, assuming you dont have any other world files pre-existing
