    Alumite was removed in favor of Knightslime in tinkers in 1.8+ versions of tinkers. Obsidian can also work, but it's durability isn't great so I'd recommend making a sharpening kit and using that and a peice of flint on your tool will give it the mining level.

    First thing that comes to mind is the clayconia from Botania, that makes a clay ball with mana and nearby placed sand blocks. The other ones are the Ex Niho method of dust in a water barrel and witchery using a mutandis varient on underwater dirt.

    Rod of the Shifting Crust from botania, the swapping wand from not enough wands are the first two that come to mind, there may be others, the former is likely more similar to the Equal Trade in terms of how it works, but both have their perks and nuisances. EDIT: Not 100% sure Not Enough Wands...

    How are you trying to make them float? You combine a functional/generating flower with an already floating flower to make them.

    Which version of tinkers? 1.10 or 1.7? In 1.10 you need to use arrow shafts rather than tool rods for bolts.

    I'd probibly go for a bucket and something decent (but not overwhelming) to mine with, if I HAD to pick 2 items. I'd feel anything else could breakthe spirit of the pack (heck even those two kinda break expert mode if you starting with them)

    Botania config question

    Pretty sure Botania doesn't have specific item disables in it's config, so you'll have to minetweak the recipe out. This won't stop it being /given, creatived in or remove existing ones from the world.

    The recipe should be tweaked to need on flint diagonally up-right from a stick. Tinker's adds it's own chisels which are crafted with (or right clicked on) certain blocks to change their pattern.

    There is also the Power Buffer for this purpose, which has a much smaller buffer. I found it useful in my 1.10 world to avoid all my power being dumped into lava creation.

    No i mean Transfer Filter. The item filter is the filter for specifying what can go in, it goes in either a transfer node to specify what can come out, or a transfer filter, to specify what can come in. The Transfer filter has the option to say how many.
