Could you try to dissable every mod in one of the mod packs and see if the FPS still is low? Are you playing on a laptop? If so, does it have a nvidia graphics card?

Well, that's odd. Though 64 bit java is a good thing anyway as long as you have a 64 bit system. It might be caused by your graphic card drivers then, so updating them could be worth a shot.

Have you been using any of the blocks from the secret rooms mod? I've seen people mention that it can cause similar problems. It could be worth a try to disable the secret rooms mod to see if that helps. Make sure to take a backup of your world first.

Try installing it another folder then your program files folder. Also, delete the folder C:\Users\John\AppData\Roaming\ftblauncher before trying to instal FTB again.
