In Direwolf20, what is the best armor that doesn't break?

Direwolf20 pack. When manually mining, is there a good way to automatically get rid of cobblestone without having to manually drop/compact it? Currently using handheld crafting table to compact them, but the inventory gets full too fast.

What is the best mining tool for manual mining in Direwolf20 v1.8.0 for Minecraft 1.7.0? I haven't found any multi-block miners yet.
