    Carpenters blocks also work. I made a plus-shaped hole and then fixed the land to make it look normal -- but with large lazers coming from the ground

    I got it working for me, I had missed a block in the roof so the beam could not exit. from what I can see they only modified the UI and the normal mechanics seem to be working for me.

    Yes I am getting the same thing, I have made a beacon base for 5 beacons out of iron and it is solid, this is what I get: http://prntscr.com/84kd1t
