I've been having almost this same problem. It's very confusing. Infrequently after 20-30 mins. It's not really a crash, but more like Minecraft slows down to about 1 frame every 10-15 seconds. CPU isn't maxed out and neither is memory. Usually I end up using task manager to kill the java...
