Ask a simple question, get a simple answer

Here we go: Does the FTB launcher still exist and host packs? I'm really confused with all the changes and how to go about uploading packs nowadays. I've got an update to my pack which was put on the FTB launcher, but if that's basically obsolete, what's the best option nowadays and can anyone...

    FTB Continuum Thoughts

I liked that too. I'm always on the lookout to get crafting outside of the 2x2 or 3x3, even if it's something simple like a Forestry Carpenter recipe. Gets you as a player more involved in more mod content instead of crafting tables.

    FTB Continuum Thoughts

I use the wood to 2 planks in my mod pack, and it's not a grind at all. I have things even "worse", you can't make sticks directly, first sticks you can craft enmass is with tinkers tool rods, and to top it off, crafting torches only gives you 2 torches instead of 4. But I've also made it that...

    March News

It's a challenge pack, the pyramid has goals to achieve, which usually involves feeding the goals into the pyramid. As you complete them, you get rewards that should help you. It's down to you to work how to to complete the challenges.

    Bug Wrong user (Caching?) issue

I've just had the same, I clicked on an alert, which took me to the page, but theme colour was different and I was logged in as @Celestialphoenix. Happened twice and is now fine.

    COFH World Generation User's Manual

By default, Ores always generate in every chunk, so adjust "chunk-chance": 1 Make that 2, and it'll be every 1 in 2 chunks instead of every chunk. Experiment until you find the right level.

Agreed, in my Project Ozone 2 gameplay, I just spawned in the Stews. There's nothing fun about that recipe. Everything else is fine.

Those little things that irk you about Minecraft

Autocrafter that accepts water, pump in infinite water, dump your cables in, out comes lovely clean cables. Build a working washing machine in Minecraft, no soap required :P

Those little things that irk you about Minecraft

Easy enough to fix with Minetweaker (I think, if there is a cobble oredict entry already that the recipes use) I also made my own texture pack as I also find the textures ugly. Now they look more like a cross between normal stone and the rock type they should be, with the relevant colour. Looks...

What's new in modded minecraft today?

TBH with all the new minecraft releases, modders are having enough trouble just porting their mods over, let alone have time to think of new and amazing things (as always, there are exceptions). This flurry of MC updates is actually hurting the modding scene a bit. We need a static minecraft...

Is it possible to rebind the double jump to activate flight? With laggy areas it frequently does not register the pressing space twice, and on a couple of occasions, has lead to my death

Those little things that irk you about Minecraft

On ores, it would be even better if vanilla MC would add Copper, Tin, Silver, Lead. It gives vanilla players more to encounter when mining, more tools/armour from that materal, new building blocks of those metals, and could even add Tin/Copper/Lead/Silver Golems. Current MC development seems to...

Those little things that irk you about Minecraft

I like that too. With the increase in rock types, it would be more natural to overlay the ore texture onto the rock texture dynamically.

Those little things that irk you about Minecraft

Agreed, I shake my head in disgust when I see that in various Let's Plays on YouTube. There should be no need for multiple same type ores to generate. Every mod nowadays has configs to adjust/turn off, and various other mods to unify the generation of ores.

Those little things that irk you about Minecraft

Main trouble with your first point is then it's either left to the player to discover they've got 3 different types of the same ore being generated which are handled differently depending on the mod, giving the player an headache, or it gives the modpack maker an headache to work out how to...

    Revelation, another useless FTB pack

Only thing I found with CoFH Worldgen back in 1.7.10 is that even with veins and 1 in x chunk chance, you still get occasions where a chunk will have every ore going. Found that in my skyland pack that uses that type of system.

Those little things that irk you about Minecraft

Regarding tiers, I don't mind them as long as they are practical. The jetpack example is good, you tend to find the first tier is nearly a waste of time to use. Why bother coding it in the first place? Regarding NEI/JEI & resources, what really really really grinds my gears especially after...

Those little things that irk you about Minecraft

Ah, so there is actually some content for players there. As I said, haven't kept track of all the changes (I think mainly the change in combat system killed my passion in future versions of MC) Very much agree with this. I'm even not keen on the Wither fight as a gate (but at least in modded...

Those little things that irk you about Minecraft

Minecraft 12.2 specific (I assume, don't keep track of all these "updates") After installing latest version to proof of concept a modpack idea, I was appalled to discover tutorial popups (press WASD to move..., You've collected X and unlocked more recipes, press E...). The horror to discover no...
