I am also having the same problem.
I loaded the "Horizon (v1.0.6) Minecraft Version 1.6.4" mod pack and was able to get into a world. So it should have nothing to do with my Java install...though I could be wrong on this.
edit: lol, posted at the same time...ill wait for the fix. thanks
