I also don't really like the magic type feel to Draconic Evolution but there are many options for energy storage like Enderio's Capacitor Bank, Mekanism's Energy Cubes and stuff from other mods like Industrialcraft 2, Thermal Expansion ect ect.

I personally don't like Iguana's Tweaks but if you wanted to you could add it into the modpack yourself, it shouldn't cause problems.

I think you'd enjoy my mod pack. It's a very, very large techpack which should help you learn more about tech! I am also looking for someone to play it with, it doesn't really have magic type mods in it so if that's your thing this pack probably isn't a good idea.
