Well if it is to prevent xray it will have a problem as: 1. I reckon they'll still show as they are still defined as ore blocks and not stone (its only a visual bug) 2. You'll be able to see the mass of other ores that surround the ores, i.e. berylium around emeralds. Im not sure how xray mods...
