How old is the world on the server? How much chunk loading are you doing? The longer you play a world the bigger and laggier it will get. You might just have hit the cap that the CPU can keep up with, more ram doesn't always mean better. you might also want to consider switching your OS to Linux...

Is this in single player? If so I would try doing a clean game install of the latest released version or the beta 1.8 (might work better than 1.7) I would imagine it's a weird script glitch so try this first then see what happens

You have to be on the same team via FTB Teams for quest/progress sharing. You can't be one sperate teams and share rewards
