Probably far too late to be of any help, but this is 100% doable. The most important thing is just that the map and your Minecraft are on the same version. I used to do this with Vechs's Super Hostile maps all the time. Place the save file in the correct folder and it just works.

Pretty sure the very first NPC you talk to in spawn can fix the bosses being friendly problem.

I cheesed the bandits by getting them stuck, you can out damage their healing with early game stuff (strength potions are your friend.) Everything is endgame, except not really the middle earth stuff... Then again, I was already invincible when I started battling orcs, so I don't actually know...

The troll is a near- endgame boss, try any strong sword + Pounce V + some form of knockback resistance (tectonic girdle)

So, I'm trying to experiment with the Wall shape. I made a projectile spell with the payload "wall->touch->dig" and all it does is make a wall of dig particle effects. I replaced the touch part with another projectile shape and nothing changed. Does the wall not work the way Zone does? I thought...
