I presume he was referring to Mojang's Snapshots and before those, the prereleases. And of course Minecraft was "released" in an Alpha stage. I'm not agreeing with him though - even Mojang didn't release an alpha version of their launcher, it's just asking for trouble.

Sorry I'm struggling to understand what you're saying. So when you run the launcher, you go to the Texturepacks tab in the launcher and you get that error message? Or When you go into Minecraft (through the FTB Launcher) and click on the texturepacks button you get this error?

It does slightly hinge of course on the players. Some people in the community will enjoy an insanely complex power system akin to UE or Rotary Craft, whilst others (probably the majority) prefer an unrealistic and yet simple power system.

An interesting mod to keep things compact is EnderIO it has power conduits that can accept up to 1024 MJ/t and can be hidden with it's own Facades. I haven't actually tested it pulling straight from a Tesseract and the mod is only in early development but it is a neat way to keep builds compact...

It's rather interesting then that you went for MJ rather than EU as your energy system, as EU is more electrical based whilst MJ is more mechanical based (in my opinion). Purely out of interest what was it that made you pick that energy system?

Try deleting the modpack and then running FTB as administration (right-click on the FTB Launcher and select Run As Administrator), it might a weird permissions thing.

Kind of sounds like the modpack hasn't installed properly. Can you delete it and redownload it?

Yeah that was actually what I was thinking might be an easy place to start, since I can probably just make a block that produces MJ based on heat differences in the environment (though not sure how to do this part).
