There's also two other ways to get research points (they're called research points, as far as I know): A moderate amount of Warp will occasionally give you primals for free, but it's slow, does not give you any control over which aspects you get, and comes with all the other side effects of warp.
Also, you can place Ordo crystal clusters and/or infused ores (maybe?) near your research table to occasionally get "bonus" aspects, represented by a little glowy symbol in the corner of the aspect in the table GUI. When you run out of Ordo research points in your personal pool, you can still use the last "bonus" point, which will remove the glowy thing. It'll come back eventually, so you can use it again later on.
Finally, scan every block and item you can find, including those from Thaumcraft and other mods. Expensive blocks tend to have LOTS of different aspects in them, so they're excellent for scanning.
