At this point, I've got no idea what to do. i just talked to my dad, emailed him different computers that both of you have emailed me and he has come to the conclusion that i should just keep the computer i have now, upgrade the ram and keep it. I agree with him because he has built many computers and has had a lot of experience with PC building and buying due to the fact that he is an Computer Technician. Im torn right now, i cant decide what i should do, return this pc to build one or keep it and upgrade the ram.
Yeah if your current laptop works fine now, don't send it back! A PC build can wait until you have the money for it.

Why on earth would you upgrade the RAM? To what? 16GB? That would be a complete waste of money IMO.

That laptop is designed to be a light on-the-the go web browsing, video player, note taker, text editor etc. It is like one or two steps up from an Ipad. Ideal for study or work(that doesnt require heavy CAD/FEM/etc. calculations). You would NEVER need more than 8GB for that.

It is NOT designed for gaming. It does NOT have a graphics card, only an onboard (well its most likely situated in the CPU these days) GPU chip sharing the RAM.

We are indeed talking about the laptop in the link. It has handled FTB quite well in the past few days so i believe I've come to the decision. I am going to keep / pay off the laptop. when i can afford it i think i will build the latest PC that Wagon153 recommended with a few twists of my own. Thanks all for the helpful suggestions and points of view

That is not a bad idea. If you are doing ok with the laptop for now then you will in the end have both a good gaming desktop for gaming and a nice laptop for laptop purposes.

Also once you get the desktop and "retire" the laptop to laptop duties, you will find that it can last for many years without needing to be replaced. I have personally had the same IBM Lenovo laptop since 2006 and it is only because the battery died that it is now retired to "media center" :P
