Item IDs in the 1.7 Forge are automatically handled. No conflicts until you have more blocks than fit in the available space (which, to my knowledge, is currently impossible).wait..... there is no id conflicts in 1.7?
Eh, you've still got the problem of conflicting mod versions (as previously mentioned with respect to Forge), and configs (generation, interactions, etc.), and any kind of server install you're wanting.Just make your own pack. No more ID conflicts means nobody can use the excuse of not wanting to spend hours fixing IDs anymore.
I thought it was a vanilla change, moving from ID to name?Item IDs in the 1.7 Forge are automatically handled. No conflicts until you have more blocks than fit in the available space (which, to my knowledge, is currently impossible).
I haven't cared enough to check, so I just used the most inclusive definition I could. With Forge for 1.7, IDs are automatically handled. It may be a vanilla change, but I've read it both ways so I don't really know anymore.[...]I thought it was a vanilla change, moving from ID to name?

I can understand the modded community is frustrated at Mojang about the relatively poor updates which are really only interesting to PURE VANNILA players that haven't played with stuff that is already avaiable in mods, but this was a great change for the modded community. If one just thinks it's from a mod, even the good things Mojang does for the modded community are ignored.I haven't cared enough to check, so I just used the most inclusive definition I could. I can't speak for the community, but I personally am not in the least frustrated with Mojang. I honestly think they're doing a good job, and have done so for the nearly four years I've owned a copy of Minecraft.I can understand the modded community is frustrated at Mojang about the relatively poor updates which are really only interesting to PURE VANNILA players that haven't played with stuff that is already avaiable in mods, but this was a great change for the modded community.
