Greetings,

I am planning on making a power plant using the Railcraft High Power Steam Boilers (3x5x3) and Thermal Expansion's energy conduits & energy cells.

I was wondering, can I still use the Industrial Steam Engines to transfer energy through the energy conduits to the energy cell or is that not allowed anymore?

If I cannot use the Industrial Steam Engines then I was wondering which Dynamo I should use for the best power output? Also, how many of those Dynamos would the boiler be able to power?

Thanks for the help

Well a steam dynamo is = to an imdustrial steam engine and can generate its won internal steam. Also conduits and TE3 machines transfer RF but CONDUITS (and only conduits) convert RF to MJ at a rate of 10RF=1MJ

TE3 Steam dynamos are the direct RF replacement. They added advantages, no sound/particles spamming your client in your power room so they perform better from a hardware perspective, meaning you can have more without lagging your system. TE steam dynamos dont require expensive steel so you can pair them with LP boilers for efficient early game power. The dynamos also can give themselves their own redstone signal in the dynamo's gui so the boiler/dynamo/conduit setups can be much more compacted. Dynamos also don't need to warm up, they output 80RF(or8MJ)/t as soon as they recieve steam.

FYI, only TE3 conduits can only convert between RF and MJ and not the other way around. Energy cells and tesseracts will not do this conversion at all, and will only output RF.

Thanks Kaovalin & ThatOneSlowking. I guess my disappointment is the ease of making the Steam Dynamo compared to the Industrial Steam Engine. Seems a bit under balanced

how many Steam Dynamos can an HP Boiler handle?

Same as the industrial steam engines, which for some reason I want to say is 8? Or something around there at least.

Edit: My engine count was way off. Refer to all below posts for a solid, correct answer.

1 steam dynamo = 1 ind steam engine last I tested so it should still be 18ish steam dynamos per max HP boiler. TE3 is balanced enough within its own ecosystem to where it doesnt bother me. For instance, try powering your base off blazing pyrotheum using renewable sources. 1 bucket is worth 2M RF I believe.

Coal would be the toughest part of that, as coal is hard to make renewable. Unless you have Magical Crops, in which case, it's insanely easy.

MFR autospawner with a wither skelly poke'ball with automous activators with looting III swords will do the trick. Also use the wither skelly heads to spawn withers and use nether stars to get some stupid serious extrautils power (+40kRF/t)

...And people say that DartCraft is OP...

Still need to manufacture all the liquid XP for the whole system to work so not too OP as OP tends to be.
Mob Essence, sir, and even that isn't all that hard.(augmenting a MFR Autospawner with a EX enhanced Darkroom Spawner feeding into a MFR Mob Grinder, as an example, makes it viable enough to run the whole system on "Exact Mode")

Most power sources arent all that hard when the correct infrastruture is setup for them and the right knowledge is known.
