Has anyone else seen this? I am not sure whether to post about it in the bug forum, or if it is a new feature with buildcraft, or if it my server.

I never had this happen with Unleashed, just randomly pipes will be gone and stuff is spewing out of them on the ground. Usually at turns in the pipes, corners intersections etc.

I think its a new feature you are "suffering" from. Most pipes have a limit to amount of items per time unit passing through them. Pass too many through(loops of items going round and round for example) and the pipe explodes.

I thoguht maybe this was the case but i have been searching and can't find anything on any wiki or site that says transport pipes have limits to anything.

It's in the config. The limit is 100 items in any one section of pipe at any time. Use gold pipes and speed items up.

There are config options in the Buildcraft configs for this, where you can increase the max limit. But I suggest switching to opaque itemducts or AE. Both are less intensive then Buildcraft pipes on the system, especially when large numbers of items are going through. Plus, they are smarter.

Thanks i will definitly look into this. We do use gold pipes so all of our stuff is fast, but this still could be the issue.
I wonder if the config was never set on Unleased? Cuz i would use redstone energy cells for max speed quarries with same pipe set ups. And many times 2 quarries feeding into the same pipe together.

Atleast this points to something that would cause a pipe to be gone.

I have gold pipes and only 1 quarry operating on 20 stirling engines and pipes still go missing.
I looked in the buildcraft config and didn't see any option like the ones described. Can someone tell me where it's at? But i still don't think this will change anything as stuff flies through it as soon as its pumped.

Just took a look through the config and you are right. That config option seems to be missing now. :/ There are impulse itemducts from Thermal Expansion that operate at almost the speed of a golden pipe. It would need a little changing of your setup though. You would need a chest on top of your quarry that the item ducts pull out of, and 2-3 itemducts pulling out of it.

A regular itemduct would keep up with his quarry speed and an impulse should keep up with a max speed quarry.

I usually find it that one Itemduct is not enough due to its cycle speed. It does take a stack at the time, but since the quarry mines lots of different kinds of items you often get that the item duct just pumps out cobble every cycle while the chest fills up with all kinds of other items. Adding just a second itemduct to pump out solves it completely.

If it were running at near max speed or max speed I'd agree but at 20 MJ/t one duct can probably cover it.

I think I was seeing this behaviour around 24ish MJ/t. But it various greatly depending on what the quarry is mining.

Also, a suggestion to the OP. Use Steam Dynamos from Thermal Expansion, and hook them up to the quarry with energy conduits to convert the RF to MJ. They produce 80 rf/t, or 8 mj/t, so are much better then the stirling engines. All they need is fuel(any solid fuel), and water, which can be supplied with an Aqueous accumulator.
