There really isn't any information yet on people's success at getting bee. If anyone has any information on how they got certain bees, it would be greatly appreciated.

wow, i spent so much time trying to get a monastic bee hive until i read i on get it from villagers.

Well, just realised i needed netherwart to make a mob spawner in Agrarian Skies. Anyone know a way to get netherwart without going to the nether. I'm playing on hardcore.

You can get soulsand from adding sand to a barrel filled with witchwater.

Does anyone know how to get water hives. I've tried plains, swampland, river biomes with lilly pads. I had them underwater, in water. Has anyone gotten water hives?

Did you not read the replies? That's under "What do these stupid bees what?!" as a reminder.
But first off, you need a water type biome. Don't know what that means? Think Oceans and Rivers. Like that.
Next, needs a LOT of water nearby. Do you have a resonate portable tank full of water? If so, you likely will need more then that.
After that, make sure the hive is 1 block under water.
And add lots of Lily-pads.

All in all, your river attempt was a good idea, but you may just have needed more water, or to place the hive in the right place.
