Well, I would definitely look to see if the recipes get listed in the machine, Usually clicking on the progress arrow will list out all the things that the machine can make although I don't remember if the metal former is one.
Off the top of my head:
ingots -> uninsulated wires of all types generally with a higher output than the wire cutters
iron plates-> 1 empty fuel cell (for making nuclear fuel)
tin plates-> empty 'universal' fluid cell, (not sure on the numbers, think it might be 3 cells per tin)

^this... I'd expect IC2 is also using NEI to show the recipes that are used with machines if you simply click the progress bar in their machines

Yes- never tested the former, but it works on the other machines.
Its ok until you accidently hit the progress arrow on the vanilla crafting table.
You mean the crafting troll? That has been my curse for nearly a year now.

Yeah, and the epic lag spike as it loads some 4 figure number of recipes.
The power of optifine that has been fixed to be compatible with FTB compels ye crafting table troll
D1 was made to be compatible with FTB. The other versions are a bit buggierOptifine halfs my fps and sometimes makes bits of the world invsiible so I can caves around me
Strange. Magicworld 2 seems to be working fine and someone on the forums said it should work properlyI am using D1
