SOLVED: See below solutions with pictures

I am currently co-running a server and we've hit a little snag:

Chunk loaders aren't working. I have a redstone in motion setup pulling mining wells forward. The system itself works wonderfully, so long as somebody is around it. Which defeats the purpose of a chunk loader! We also tried placing the loader on the ground beside the setup and that even didn't work so we've ruled out moving of chunk loaders by the RiM mod being the issue.

We've tried RC world anchor, anchor carts, Chickenbones Chunk Loaders, spot loaders... nothing seems to keep the area loaded once we've flown away.

Has anybody else experienced this issue? Know of a solution?

Server Version: 1.6.4

Cheers!

it seems you're not naming a specific FTB pack, which could indicate you're playing a custom pack.
if that's the case, then there's your problem, as either configuration settings could've disabled chunkloaders, or you've certain mods affecting eachother.
and if it's a custom pack, it'll require the ones who put it together to test out the pack and find the problem, not much that we can help you with

Myself and Landstryder put the modpack together. The sister of the QuadM Charity Modpack.

We believe we have fixed the issue. Seems that with the redstone in motion mod, when it moved the chunk loaders, it was leaving a phantom chunk loader behind and essentially copying the last one. At one point, the game has a maximum it can load and it stops loading more. There are two solutions:

1. Restart the server. It eliminates the previous phantom loaders.
2. Use an Anchor cart and place it on a rail atop the redstone in motion frame. This way it is not actually tied to the frame, but instead goes along for the ride - which the anchor cart is specifically designed for.

I hope this helps other people! Cheers!

or you could take the DW20 route which he once did in his SSP series, he used a turtle to move along with a frame and constantly deploy/break the chunkloader.
perhaps you could have a turtle react to a redstone signal, and add a redstone block in the frame, so each time the frame moves, the turtle gets a new signal, breaks the chunkloader, moves forward, places chunkloader back down.
you may need to use 2 chunkloaders or more otherwise the chunk will get unloaded when the turtle breaks the chunkloader, thus also stopping the turtle from working

Weren't Code Chicken's chunk loaders graded as RP2 Frame Compatible? Might take the trickery used here now, but it used to work relatively fine with RP2.

Can you take a picture of the setup? Just keep in mind that anything other than Chicken Chunks and RailCraft admin anchor will require some type of fuel. Redstone can also disable all chunkloaders that you listed.

Yes the chunk loaders were RP2 compatible, but I guess something changed in the coding (or a complete from scratch code I guess) in Redstone in Motion that doesn't work completely the same way.

I am ok with the fuel requirement as well, makes it less of an overpowered setup.

Pictures to follow this evening when I log back into my server!

How to mine from 130 to bedrock in 50s:

7R50OYC.png

On the left there are two tracks underneath the anchor cart. the walls are to stop it from possibly hopping off.

In the middle is the Redstone in Motion carriage that is controlled by a timer set to 60s. The timer is controlled off or on if there is anything in the "overflow" chest (by use of a vanilla comparitor). I can either place something in my ender pouch or if the vacuume hopper detects flying debris and it will stop the miner from moving forward anymore...

From left to right:
Ender tank with fluiducts (connected to an enderthermic pump in nether)
Magmatic Dynamos
Redstone Conduits
Mining Wells
Ender Chests (different color than the shut off chest and connected to our sorting system)

so far since I've posted this, it has travelled over 2km from it's starting point.
