Help with smeltery please :D

How do I select a specific type of metal I have selected to output?

I pretty much smelted everything I had when I built my first one, but I need some copper but I have like 300 iron at bottom and it just outputs that when I want to output my copper..

I tried clicking copper with both buttons, dragging and such but its a static display on my smelting tank thing. Not sure how to do it!

The whole point as I understand it is that you only have one alloy in the smeltery at the time(like you would in RL). So you add copper and tin to get bronze for example and then pour out the bronze. You wouldn't go and plob lots of iron into the same smeltery if you were making bronze in RL.
Pour out all the iron as ingots or blocks, then smelt each metal as you need it.
 
You can't pull out the copper directly, as said above. I recommend putting a Redstone clock next to a faucet draining into a Casting Basin. This way it'll automatically drain all stuff out.

If you do this you need to only input metals in multiples of 9. Also, it is better to use a Fluidduct and a lever as it fills the basin faster than a faucet.
 
Something I've done on my most recent smeltery is to have multiple fluiducts to power the molten material out. Two go to casting basins that are hooked into my AE network, and the other two lead to individual fluid tanks. That way, I could store molten metal, if I run out of the alloy, or if I just want to switch smelting mid-stream.

...also, the liquids look cool in the tanks. And style is king, youknowwhatimean?

I did something like this on and unleashed server but trying it with Monster 1.0.3 I can't get the fluiduct to pull the molten metal out of the smeltery and store it. It does take molten metal from the tank (well, i tested with lava) and dump it into the smelter though. Any ideas?

Very odd. What tank were you trying to put it in? I don't think that should matter, but might as well eliminate variables. (I'm using openblocks tanks).
 
I used a TE tank -- you can wrench it and change the input/output mode. I also tried wrenching the fluiduct for red/blue/no arrows, but that didn't work either.
I guess I should try this again with a liquid metal in the smeltery instead of lava. I was trying put add a holding tank for extra lava to feed into the smeltery as fuel, and it accidentally connected to the smeltery drain and filled up the alloy/metals reservoir rather than the lava tank :D. I ended up having to just break the smeltery to get rid of the lava since the liquiduct which put it in would not pull it back out.
 
I feel silly writing this, as I'm sure you tried it; but I know that the fluiducts need to be powered with a lever in order to flow.

aaaaactually, since it didn't require a lever to move the liquid out of the tank into the smeltery, I did not not try using a lever to go the other direction. I'll give that a go, thanks!

Sorry for late reply, I fell asleep :D

I first learned about this mod with the yogscast moonquest episodes, on there video's it shows them clicking different liquids in the smelter and they are allowed to select what they want.

When you open the controller on the Smeltery, you can left click on the liquids in the GUI on the right side. Each click moves that liquid down one level. Hope this helps.

Yes, this is what I am trying to do, but clicking doesnt seem to move anything at all, I wonder if maybe its bugged or something :(

Are you still on 1.5? Because I couldn't rearrange them until I switched to a 1.6 pack. Not sure if it's a 1.6 specific feature, or if it was just bugged for a bit.
 
This could be, I am not quite sure what version I am on, it just says feed the beast 1.1.3 for me playing on a server I set up, no biggie I shall have to just work around it,. thanks for the help :)

Feed the Beast Unleashed? Monster? Horizons? Which pack are you launching to play the game?
 
Looking at direwolf's forgecraft runs it seems on 1.6.x tinker's has an update where you can now "prioritize" the alloys by clicking on them through the GUI
 
Have any of you guys watched the Yogscast Moonquest? In their videos, they can change the order of metals in their smeltery by clicking on them in the GUI, but no one in FTB can. Is this a feature added in recent versions of TC? If it is, then we can't use it until FTB updates T_T . Is there a way to make a simple pump system to pump metals out and back into the smeltery as a buffer of sorts?
