I'm quite new to this mod however I finally got as far as assembly tables and lasers. However I've tried several setups and the laser just isn't powering my assembly table. I even tried the most simplest of setups but it isn't working. Can anyone help me out?

It's a combustion engine. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. It would really help if someone could point to the simplest working setup so I could try it out.

If the engine is actually running for you, i can't help with the answer as it should be enough MJ to power the laser. You might try putting a wooden conductive pipe between engine and laser though.
(I actually ran into a problem with my laser not being powered back in my early FTB days (1.2.5) and I ended up just breaking the blocks and putting them back down, and it fixed it :P )

It's working now. First of all I made the lasers point to the table and second of all... I had no idea that you have to select the part in table in order for it to start working >w< Thanks for help guys.

The laser does not need to point at the table to work. You need to have something for it to do to work, so that was the issue. Excellent!
