My nei does work when i'm on a server

Press E then press some of the buttons on the keyboard forgot which one exactly but it will turn it back on :)

Did you even read the post? NEI is on but it crashes as soon as he wants to use it.

Maybe try to force update the pack? Never seen this error.

No I guess not lmfao , I was so tired last night I honestly do not remember half the stuff I did.
I must have been multi tasking.
But anyways the only time I seen this error is when a computer can not handle a big pack. Like if you try to play resonant rise for instance on a shitty computer.
I was on some other launcher and we had like 300 mods and when I tried to open my nei it would crash the game. But when I switched to another mod pack it fixed the issue.
Mind you the other mod pack only had like 200 mods.
And mister lenscas no need to get that tune with me :p
 
I'm having the same issue. Single Player worlds work fine, but on a multiplayer server as soon as I click anything in NEI it crashes the client back to the launcher.
 
Wanted to post a little update, it definitely seems to be a client side problem when your connected to a server. I disabled the NEI mods on our server including the one mod that requires NEI and the problem still occurred.
 
Well I fixed it on mine finally. We had disabled the ComputerCraft and OpenPeripheral mods on our server. I noticed in the crash logs it complained about ComputerCraft Turtle several times. We re-enabled the CC and OP mods on our server and the problem is solved. No more client crashes when clicking NEI for recipes.
