I've seen most people automate the production of Livingrock/wood with Steve's Factory Manager, which can be a bit of a bugger to set up. I figured out a hopefully simpler way to do it with AE2, which I don't think I've seen anybody else do... plus I have a new mic I need to test. So I decided to create a tutorial.

Check out the video here:
or if that's too long and you didn't watch, you can just go with this: https://imgur.com/a/vZdo6

This is just a hunch, but I think the stone thing could be because AE 2 annilation planes break the block. As your system is requesting stone why would it do it by breaking stone, the result would be cobble.
Now I'm not 100% on this as I forget wether annilation planes have silk touch capabilities.
It looks like it's unintended behavior more then a bug, that being said it is kind of odd that you can't filter an annilation plane, maybe because a system would get jammed if something not on the filter got in to the system. Then again that's solved by the formation planes being already configurable.

On the note of power usage, you could save some power by replacing the export bus with a storage bus and removing the me chest. Would be both simpler to configure, and cheaper on materials too.

At 2rf/t each, the planes are by far the thirstiest parts of the arrangement to the point that everything else is kinda out of focus power-wise, but yeah, that change would definitely help a little on setup and materials.

Eeeeeyup. I'm a massive idiot that forgot stone normally breaks into cobble.

Jamming the system by having an unfiltered item come in is essentially how this machine here works: the planes jam because they have nowhere to place the stone or wood logs, and doesn't unjam until the materials are transformed. I suppose you could have an option where filtered items get put into the ME system and unfiltered ones just get destroyed though. Might be good for pairing it up with some sort of block moving mod like Funky Locomotion, to make a quarry that doesn't flood you with billions of cobblestone. But you can already do that just by putting a low-priority storage bus on an extra utilities trashcan (and using card combinations to blacklist cobble in your main storage) or a formation plane on item drop mode into a pool of lava....
