wait? it doesn't even get to the bios?
or does it get stuck while loading windows?
can you try to get in your bios settings?
 
so.... screen stays black and you can't even get to your bios settings? broken hardware I think
 
then its a software problem, try to download a ubuntu live cd and boot that, if it does then a reinstall will most likely fix your com if it does not there might be a bigger problem
 
you have a phone, you just need a way to get it on a boot-able device because I doubt your phone can serve as one.
 
as long as the drive is not broken getting the files back is easy.
either get a live cd and boot that then put the files over that way
or remove the hdd/ssd/whatever and plug it into your new computer

well, to be fair if he installed 64 bit Linux he might have been able to join a long time ago :p
 
I wouldn't be surprised if he just threw it in the water when no one was looking then turned it on while under water then put some of his own yellow "water" on it to make sure it died :p

I was referring to that cd with dos programs that has a virus that still works because #logic
