Hi,

So I started an infinity pack game a few days ago, and I've got a small house set up with small piles of resources(mostly gotten from 5 mining turtles I put to work underground), some basic Ender IO processing machines and Thaumcraft basics, and now it's pretty much time to set up a proper base and begin the automation of some resources and get an IE system set up.

So here's my main goal: I want to have a large area where mobs don't spawn but doesn't involve littering the ground with torches, so what is the best way you've found to do that?

Couple of other quick things:

1 - Easyish way to automate ender pearl production?

2 - Easyish way to automate blaze rod production?

Much appreciated ^.^

Preventing mob spawns on large areas: Use large scale light sources like Wrath Lamps(Factorization) or Arcane Lamps(TC), or use Chandeliers or Magnum Torches(ExtraUtilities) which prevent mob spawns in 16 and 64 block radius.

Enderpearls: Ender Lilies and MFR farms(does that still work?), Cursed earth mob farms, Powered Spawner/Auto-spawner, Bees.

Blaze Rods: Powered spawner/Auto-spawner, bees.

I would probably recommend a Cursed Earth farm with MFR grinders producing mob essence(and ender pearls in the process) and then use mob essence in MFR Autospawner to spawn blazes and additional endermen if needed.

Setting up a grinder in front of a blaze spawner in a nether fortress is a nice way to gather a bunch of blaze rods without much work. I usually try to use lava to power it, as I'm usually ready to set up a lava pump for overworld use about the same time.

If you rather, you can use a JABBA diamond dolly to pick the spawner up and move it to a designated spawn trap. A single piece of Cursed Earth under a spawner will allow it to spawn mobs without a player nearby, allowing you to chunk load your farm and go do other things.

As rhn stated, a cursed earth farm is the most efficient way to gain ender pearls (and every other mob drop). If you use MFR grinders, you generate mob essence that can be used with the autospawner to gather any other drop you need. All you need is power.

So far as lighting without torches, FZ isn't in Infinity, so wraith lamp is out. TC arcane lamps are an option with decent range and a relatively low cost. I'm just starting to play with Carpenter's blocks, but I think you can make them emit light while still looking like the first texture you add. If you were to sprinkle these liberally through your builds, you can drop the torches without mob spawns. Alternatively, magnum torches, although expensive, are quite a potent solution (bury it in your floor if you don't want to look at it).
