Hello,

I am a little curious about what frame rates people are getting in the new DW20 pack. So here's how this is going to work. Post your computer specs and the average FPS you get when you load into a fresh world.

I will go first

FRAME RATE: 20fps

OS: Windows 8.1 Pro (64 bit)
CPU: AMD FX 8350 eight-core (4.0Ghz)
RAM: 16GB (1600mhz)
GPU: AMD HD 7770 (1GB)
HD: SSD (for this I want to know what kind of hard drive you have FTB running on)
RAM->FTB: 4GB (for this I want to know how much RAM you have given FTB)

I wanna see what kind of rigs people have for pulling off 60+ FPS in this game. I feel like I am getting the performance of a 5 year old laptop. Also if you feel like it, why not leave some tips on how to get better performance.

Here you go:

Framerate: 35-45 outside, 50-60 inside.

OS: Windows 7 Home (64bit)
CPU: Intel Core i5-(unknown) 3.3GHz (OCed)
RAM: 8GB (2000mhz)
GPU: NVidia GeForce 560ti (1GB)
HD: 750GB Kingston Black HDD
RAM for FTB: 5GB

No Optifine.

Changes from the default:
  • Disabled OPIS (and by proxy, MapWriter) - it's a resource hog and I like Zan's Minimap better.
  • Disabled Hats, HatStand, and Morph. (For my playing, Hats are useless and Morph is OP)
  • Installed Zan's Minimap.
  • Using a personally-made Sphax BDCraft 64x texture pack instead of vanilla textures.

FRAME RATE: 60+fps

OS: Windows 7 (64 bit)
CPU: Intel 3750k (3.4Ghz+)
RAM: 32GB (1800mhz)
GPU: Nvidia GTX 670 (4GB)
HD: FTB install is on HDD (Black edition WD) and Minecraft install is on SSD.
RAM->FTB: 3-3.25GB with custom parameters. (-Xms512m -XX:permSize=128M -XX:MaxPermSize=512m)

Mpadpack: Direwolf 20 1.6.4
Custom mods: Hats and hatstand mods disabled as they were cuasing me memory leak and poor performance. difference was going from 20-30fps to stable 60+ with mutiple players and automation on screen.

depends, if I load it in the FTB launcher, I may get about 30fps tops, if I'm lucky.
if I load the pack with the vanilla launcher, I get an average of 120-150fps

Framerate: 150-200 FPS

OS: Windows 8.1 (64 Bit)
CPU: Intel Core i7 3.6GHz
Ram: 16GB 3300 DDR3
GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX 660 TI (2GB)
HD: 2TB 7200 RPM Western Digital
SSD: 120GB
Allocated Ram: 4GB

I DO NOT use Optifine or MC Patcher as I've experienced rendering issues with both. I'm also using 64x64 Soartex Fanvar and all the addons for the Direwolf20 1.6.4 Modpack with no lag or crashes so far. My computer is hooked up to a TV and not a monitor. I seem to get better FPS that way.

I did some testing and found that my FPS stays around 20 no matter what. I changed all the settings to low and while i'm in the menu the fps is around 120 but as soon as I jump back into the game it drop right back to 20. This doesn't seem right. Has anyone else had a similar experience?[DOUBLEPOST=1386876299][/DOUBLEPOST]

This might be a newbie question, but could you explain how to load the pack in the vanilla launcher?

Just a thought- Make sure your java process is set to run off of your graphics card and not your integrated cpu graphics.

As far as I know none of the FX line CPUs have integrated graphics. I know mine doesn't for sure. It sure does feel like i'm running on Intel HD 4000 though.

That's interesting information. Have you spoken with launcher devs in detail?

I have around 60FPS at my base with machines everywhere, and around 120-140 when in wild. Over 300 when looking at sky.

OS: Windows 8 (64 bit)
CPU: i7 core 4700mq (2.7GHz)
RAM: 16GB DDR3
GPU: Nvidia 740m (2GB)
HD: 2TB WD
SSD: 120GB
Allocated Ram: 4GB[DOUBLEPOST=1386917065][/DOUBLEPOST]

I figured that before when i was running on my current specs my fps was around 30-40 max with optifine, but after i messed around with my Nvidia control panel and told it to use my GPU when im running java my fps went up to 60 even with so much stuff i have in my base. It looks like ftb by defalt runs on your intergrated/whatever bad graphics card, and you need to change that by hand.

it's a bit hard to do if people don't know what you're doing. you'll need to make a vanilla minecraft instance with the vanilla launcher, install forge 953 yourself, and set the launcher so it loads up the forge version. you then just simply copy over the files from the pack of your choice, you copy things over like configs and mods and maybe also some other files that are generated outside of the normal places, and you can then try to load minecraft through the vanilla launcher

That's interesting information. Have you spoken with launcher devs in detail?

the problem is that this also happens with MultiMC5 and I'm not sure if this is just my own problem, or a problem that others also have.
I've created a topic talking about this problem in the hope of finding out if others also have this problem

UPDATE: I did some testing with the 1.5 pack and found that in the launcher V 1.3.0 I get around 60 fps (although it feels very choppy). I then tried the 1.5 pack on launcher V 1.2.2 and I get between 100 and 160 FPS. So I think the launcher doesn't like my system very much. Any thoughts on this?

Framerate: 41 FPS avg. Freezes during world gen.

OS: Windows 7 (64 Bit)
CPU: Intel Core i5-2410M 2.3GHz
Ram: 8GB DDR3
GPU: NVidia GeForce 550M (1GB)
HD: 421GB
SSD: 29GB
Allocated Ram: 4GB

Sidenote: Looking to build a new PC for all types of gaming. Does anyone know of a good online guide for beginners? I just need to know what components are needed on the basic level, like CPU, GPU, etc. Any recommendations on CPUs and motherboards?

http://www.logicalincrements.com/ is a good place to start.

http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc is somewhat useful, the posts are mainly to show off or get help. The best part is the sidebar, it has useful links for just about every step of the building and buying process.

If your prefer a more 1 on 1 experience, you can PM on here or Reddit. You could also add me Steam or Skype.
