Assembly table and Lasers

I am wondering if there is an optimal distance that the lasers should be away form the table?

Maximum of 4 blocks. No difference between 1 and 4 blocks however.

If you see a laser, it's a good distance?

They have a range that they function in but close or far I don't believe has any effect upon their function.
