Good ways of clearing areas of monsters?

I like the Magnum Torch, but I want to try something different here. Part of the fun in building in a dangerous location is having to take precautions, and then getting the payoff of watching your countermeasures go to work. A ring of magnum Torches works, but it's a little to passive for...

Good ways of clearing areas of monsters?

I've got an nice outdoorsy cabin in the prairie that attracts lots of monsters at night. Thaumcraft golems with the Guard core are good are cleaning out the spiders and skeletons that try to hide under the eaves, but creepers remain a constant worry. Solutions I've thought of and don't...

    Low level autocrafting, suggestions wanted

Steve's Factory Manager turns out to be everything I wanted. Powerful and compact methods to accomplish simple convenience tasks without having to grind for several hours. You can make a good system after having found your first redstone vein, and after finding your first gold vein, you can...

    Simple quality of life improvements

Thanks people, I'll update the list with some of the suggestions here. I'm only including things that I've actually used, so don't feel bad if I don't mention your suggestion, it probably just means that I don't have the mod that you talked about. I a few new personal discoveries, and they're...

    Low level autocrafting, suggestions wanted

No, but as I expand I might incorporate pipes and control those via redstone. That sounds pretty good, I'll check it out. I'm very interested in "low-tech" solutions right now. My playstyle is that I temporarily settle in some village building somewhere (with Witchery, villages get walls and...

    Low level autocrafting, suggestions wanted

I can't figure out how to make that work. Birch/Spruce/Oak logs are all different things and so JABBA doesn't unify them like it does with equivalent versions of copper. Is there a special thing I have to do?

    Low level autocrafting, suggestions wanted

After driving myself insane with all of the fiddly iterative crafting required by FtB, I've decided that I want to build a no-hassle autocraft station that I can drop raw materials into and will dutifully create an array of gears, machine frames, and pistons for me. I want this built before I...

Witchery: Is there a way to disable seeds dropping from tall grass?

I found the switch in the agricraft main config that disables all seed drops. That would have been perfect (I really hate seed drops in general), but for some reason changing that flag causes Minecraft to crash on startup. I may have to buckle down and figure out Minetweaker. Just to be sure...

    Pam Harvestcraft , railcraft , IC2 , etc

Like others have said, you get into strange territory when you evaluate mods strictly by the power of their functions. By your terms, my Real Cool Furnace Mod that smelts diamonds out of cobblestone would be the best mod ever. Well, until I release the Even Cooler Furnace Mod, which smelts TWO...

Witchery: Is there a way to disable seeds dropping from tall grass?

I like the mod, but hate the inventory spam I get every time I clear a field of grass. I'd like to turn the seeds off and either rely on Agricraft or maybe even just NEI the seeds into my inventory. There doesn't seem to be a switch in the Witchery config, but maybe there's a sneaky backpath...

Looking for advice on Botania flower world gen

That sounds pretty interesting. I was a bit disappointed to find out how trivial it is get new flowers. IS this something that can be done in the Agricraft or Botania configs, or do you need a special crossover mod to do this?

Looking for advice on Botania flower world gen

I want to add Botania to my modlist, but I want to drastically reduce the number of flowers spawned. I just don't like how the giant flower patches change the look and feel of the biomes. If possible, I'd like to reduce flower commonality to the level of Harvestcraft gardens, where they're...

Oh my, that sounds wonderful. Thanks! Is there a better description of the features somewhere? The author only offers us this: Which is not the kind of documentation that I like to see :/

    Simple quality of life improvements

I'm looking for simple, easy-to-make items that make everyday tasks easier. I assume that everyone knows about sorting machines, jetpacks, ore doubling, and so on, but what I'm looking for here is simple stuff that can be made with minimal resources and low mod knowledge, and that might be...

    xycraft

I'm not very hot for Xycraft either, and always have to remember to kick it out when the pack updates. I think that the ores look horrible and they have this glitchy flashing that makes them impossible to ignore. And oh my god the inventory bloat. All those different colors of xychorum, the...

Do you guys think that this breaks copyright?

Yeah, this is analogous to reading a book out loud and whimsically replacing the names of the characters with the names of your friends. The author of the book can't take action against you because you aren't changing the product.

    Out of control Thaumcraft node

The business about overcharged nodes creating flux because they are the biggest in the area is just wrong. First off, they aren't always the biggest ones in the area. I've seen small overcharges before (~300/200 type of stuff). Even a tiny 55/50 node will quickly rack up flux, even if it is a...

    Out of control Thaumcraft node

World gen sometimes causes overcharge nodes. I think it has to do with two nodes spawning close to each other. Anyways, overcharged nodes generate flux at a very high rate. Natural flux discharge will not even come close to keeping up with it. It will continue to climb until you drain out...

    Thaumcraft 3 crystal cluster bug

That's not a bug. Overcharged nodes accumulate flux very quickly. You need to drain the excess Vis out of the aura. That won't make the flux go away, but at least it will stop new Flux from being made.

Aura and You: All About Thaumcraft 3 Aura Mechanics

Of course you can. I even mention how to do it in the first post. Crystal Clusters create fresh Vis, they are just very slow. What's more, a node being fed Vis from a Crystal Cluster won't stop eating ores or borrowing from neighbors just because it is also being supported by the crystal. I...
