We are using a Minecraft Hosted Multiplayer Server and it is running FTB New Direwolf20 for Minecraft 1.6.4. (1) I'm wondering if it is possible to install Worldedit. (2) If not is there a good alternative to WorldEdit (MCEdit or Voxel Sniper perhaps or similar?)

(3) In addition, I was wondering if anyone had a quick set of very basic instructions for installing Worldedit or suggested alternative. With the basic set of instructions, I can then feel confident in the details which I can track down on the Internet.

More details you may not care about:
It appears I'll need at minimum Bukkit, Minecraft Forge, MCPC+/Cauldron, and Canary. The server has Bukkit support but I'm worried these extra items may mess things up.

Bukkit support isn't the same as FTB support. (or so I've discovered, painfully)

If anyone else has ideas on how to do it, feel free to chime in.

For Bukkit, you can not run a Bukkit server and drop in the DW20 server stuff and let it run, it won't.
If you want to use Bukkit, you will need to change your server to a Bukkit server (jar selection part of your Multicraft server control panel) and upload/install all the different mods yourself.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you think you will need WorldEdit on your server for?
If you need to "fix" errors on the map, you can stop the server, download your latest save file (you should have automatic saves set up) and re-upload a previous version of the map, or edit the map on your own
computer then re-upload.

I'm a bit of a jerk to my players, and if they do something stupid and get something corrupted on their character themselves, I delete their player.dat file :)

I wanted to add some imported schematics to add to the landscape, and was thinking of moving the server to a more automatic format where we could create larger more grandiose creations more quickly. It would have been nice for a quick fix as well, but generally I can handle that other ways. From what I've learned, it seems WorldEdit won't be an option with Direwolf20. JT

You could always download the map and edit it yourself, then upload it again. If you are just looking to add in some schematics and some terraforming.

Well, you could always install Rotarycraft for a bit for the world edit wand, then remove it.
I'd keep RoC on of I were you though, it's a great mod

I'll have to check out Rotarycraft and I have considered doing a download of the world then editing. The drawback is users are on fairly frequently, and the world backup size is 800MB in a backup zip so there isn't a great time to do it and I'd imagine the upload would take quite a while :) Thanks for the ideas!

I'm sure your players would appreciate you taking the server down for a bit, or maybe what you could do is something I did with my vanilla server once (we had some chunks corrupted)

1: Tell everyone to put all their inventory in a chest before a set date/time.. let them know anything left on their toons will get deleted. Stress that they leave nothing on their characters.
2: Shut the server down and create a fresh backup. (with everyone's items not on their characters.)
3: Download the world backup, start up your server, and let the players have creative mode while you edit (since nothing will matter). Let them have some fun!
4: Edit the map as you see fit.
5: Shut down the server, reset everyone to their previous access (no cheats, what ever) and upload the edited map and delete the player.dat files.
6: ????
7: Start your server and enjoy!

My players really appreciated the "fun" mode instead of down time.
