Windows .exe World won't load at all

Recently I loaded up my single player world and it loaded the chunks I was in and that was it. Whenever I try to break blocks or place them, they break and place, but don't drop anything or update. I can go to the edge of the world and no new chunks will load. Then when I try to save and quit, it freezes and I have to close it in task manager. It is actually very similar to what happens when you get disconnected from a server. I would be very thankful if someone could help me, as I really want to keep working on my world

EDIT: I'm running the mindcrack pack on a windows 64bit machine. I have a fairly good rig and don't usually have any lag.
