Hello everyone

I started playing FTB a few weeks ago with some friends. In the meantime we have built up a nice little base, nothing too advanced yet but we're working on it. If you guys have any suggestions on what to add further please feel free to tell me.

I've deliberately gone for the village look because I just fits nicely into the landscape and it offers a contrast to the tech hidden inside the buildings :).

The Storage Room is currently small but functional

Hi guys.

After 4 attempts to find a good and adaptable setup to power my steam boiler with biofuel, I think I have found it.

A bank of 14 hobbyist steam engines in an easily expandable setup (currently) power 3 fermenters + 9 stills and 1 tree farm above the building. Via an ender chest I have wooden logs + excess peat + apples coming from another tree farm.
Biofuel is pumped into a tank with a holding capacity of 192 buckets and then into the boiler. Currently I'm still saving up the fuel to have enough to warm up the boiler (since it takes more than 2 hours). The 36 cubic (m?) boiler is connected to a yet to be built bank of 18 commerical steam engines which will power 2 magma crucibles along with 2 igneous extruders creating lava from cobblestone. I did the math and normally I should have enough energy to power them (originally I wanted 4 but I downsized due the power demanded).

I know there is a much simpler way of getting power but I really wanted to try the steam boilers etc

Boiler room (still need a new access ladder :)). The engines have a separate water supply and the boiler + fermenters are fed by 2 aqueous accumulators.

*sees gold conductive pipes*:eek::confused::mad::(

Use TE's Redstone Conduits. They're better for everything but 1-2 blocks of wire transmission.

And steam boilers are one of the best sources of power. Use industrial steam engines though. You can acquire almost 150 mj/t with a HP boiler and some Industrial Steam engines.

They did do a great job, didn't they?
I think I may have to do a base thread like this sometime. It'll have to compete with this and Orbital Shoop Corp Mothership though, so I'd best be working on it.

If by 'short' you mean "1 or 2 blocks", and if by 'efficient' you mean "prone to blow up", then yes they are!

No honestly, use conduits :D

Yea, I can see your energy about to explode in one of those pipes. Energy Conduits are one of the best thing to use for any reasonable amount of distance transfer, or even a short one if your machine happens to fill up with energy.
