Will expanding the steam boiler (3x2x3>3x4x3) reset it's temperature?

I got impatient.

For anyone wondering, the answer is yes. I was hoping it would at least count the energy spent towards the bigger tank.

But no, you lose everything.
 
If it helps, Railcraft's firestone crystal thingy (after being thrown in a lava lake to charge) is able to heat a steam boiler up much more quickly than ordinary fuel does. Doesn't fit in the liquid-fueled boiler (or, at least, it didn't last time I checked), but in the solid-fueled one, it works well.
