I'm looking at the mods and seeing three that majorly cross grounds. this just my opinion of the matter. as i'm finding it really confusing in what and how to build. TE, Ender IO and IC2e. it used to be that even with these mods there was still some kind of tier present which gave lineage to how and what you where build in order to proceed through the game. now, i feel that they kind of all fill the same spot with different levels of difficultly dependant on mod.

look at tinkers and thaum. they both work hand in hand. ultimately a pleasure without a confusion of what does what and a good degree of separation in order for you to go about using them both.

TE used to be good early game. then following up with IC2 to get mass production done and then later mid late game integrating AE bulking up on some TE and rendering bigger faster IC2 machines. while still beautifying and exploring. i don't think there's any precedent for using more than one anymore. which is a little depressing.

its probably just me. not yet come to term with how to get a good build out of them all. what do you think and how are you approaching the matter?

let me know i'll be interested at know your early, mid, late game strategies. as well as, which your implementing went and how your going about utilising the different mods.

I find it odd that you think that TE and IC2 Experimental overlap, considering the rather firm shift away from early and towards lategame that IC2 took in the rework. Even without that, though, IC2 would still have a whole lot more content than TE (though Team CoFH seems intent on aggressively expanding, so it may catch up some in future releases).

In my current world, I started out with TE. Partly because it was just fresh out and new, but also because it's cheap and easy to set up and maintain. I still have these six basic machines in my starter cabin, and use them for ore processing and alloying needs (bronze, bronze, bronze!). Once I had a quarry set up, however, there was nothing more TE could offer me to sink my resources into. So I started on IC2, well knowing that it would be expensive... I want it to be expensive. I'm building a nuclear reactor system costing over 8,000 metal ingots because I can. Because IC2 lets me do that. After all, what else would I spend my quarried resources on? By the time you'd have spent even 1/20th of that on TE, you would already be repeating yourself over and over. On the other hand, for all its resource hunger, IC2 could never give me tesseracts, which I am still actively using. That's the reason why I think the two mods are still perfectly valid, each in its own way, to be used together in the same world.

Up next I will probably try Galacticraft as another endgame mod to spend resources on for fun. I've also bred the entire Forestry suite of trees on the side, although I don't really use any of them right now (gigantic nuclear power plant means I have no need for things such as tree farms). It's good knowing though that I have all these different colors of wood available for building, in case a sudden need (or inspiration) strikes. Tree breeding is super easy, it mostly just takes time, which is why it's a good thing to have going on in the background at all times.

Meanwhile, another player on the server has been playing exclusively with a combination of TiCo and Thaumcraft, neither of which I have touched - and in return, they never touched TE or IC2. A third player is going big on Railcraft, with a side of TiCo and TE. It's all the same modpack and all the same world, yet you'll find that everyone uses different mods for the same things. And it hasn't hurt anyone to have these options - instead, I feel like it has enriched and diversified everyone's playstyles.

Hey,

I was just reading another thread of yours (the railcraft boiler one). I'd watched something (ako) which prompted a read for the new mechanics. anyway, This time round. as i started a new world as BoP was being crazy and then it just happened again. Followed by Fractorization changes which have me slightly perturbed. Wow, distracted twice in a row. and yes the impact of TE's return definately was where I wanted to explore. Obviously with everything else. got myself a hole some basic machines. still have to experiment with TE's machines working with BC pipes as they have routines for automatic power control. which is extremely useful. and as TE machines don't have logic as yet the conduit's don't really make the impact they used to.

I have started with the Thaum and TiC compilation and TE for personal manufacture. There's only a couple of machines that i haven't build as i'm still figure out my needs. In the midst of missing TE I did have enderIO which proved indispensable I don't really like running lines everywhere as i build on a wide scale. and It basically has the integration to do very much the same things. The conduits being amazing in the way that they can be combined to the same block. Which would be nice for other authors to think about including. I really like whats happened with IC2e. I still find it challenging. Getting all the machines the correct amount of power, making sure they don't blow up etc... And from my last world really like the means to tripling you ores. I think i just had more of idea of what i was doing, build and objectives i wanted to achieve when playing and now i don't feel i have that. i'm mainly plodding about and exploring.

I guess it's as you say. Most are now selecting mods via there means of play now. over that of playing and exploring mods as they could in there playing needs. if you see what i mean. Like, trying to avoid mining automation quarries. albeit i don't really mind the thaumBore cause its much more hands on. TiC making manual mining much more fun anyway the advances being dependant on your own findings. thaum is really nice especially with TT addon helping having more control over the randomness of the vanilla enchantments and a good not overly powered set of armour. After not really knowing what the Fusion generator was actually for. beside producing huge amounts of power. what then. I don't really need that for a shield system for battling the wither. SSP i don't really need it for anything else. SMP I don't play in places where i feel players have no respect for other peoples builds. SO, besides building one I haven't really got reason to do so.

I with the new mechanics to Boilers, not that i wouldn't have explored this anyway. Reactors come more into play and then subsequently, quarries cause i would know how to gather enough of a supply of resource in order to keep a reactor running. albeit, I don't' think their meant to run continuously anyway. Reading you r post it looks like running batteries of engines/dynamo's seems the way to go. I didn't read to many pages. I was wondering if you had considered the lava crystal. rare, yes. still achievable. as a means to heat up the boilers?

All that said it pretty much come down to adjust my game type. so i'm open to suggestions and looking at how people are doing what they do now.
