I am looking to have a sever hosted. What should I look for when picking one out?

I want to have the FTB pack and have enough space for around 8-12 people.

Creeper Host is a very good hosting site and will set up an FTB server for you, they have a partnership with FTB.

What would the general conversion rate be for number of people to ram/GB needed?

For FTB? very small...

My current FTB server is using less than 1G of RAM for 15 players.

How do they handle things like backups? downloading your world? maybe uploading one? changing config files?

You can backup your entire minecraft folder using the backup option supplied via the control panel.
Or you can do a selective backup via SSH or FTP/STP/SCP.

I have found SCP to be incredibly useful for editing config files on the fly without having to go through any hassle.

You can also install "CreeperConnect" to use the files just the same as though they were on a local drive on your computer.

I can say i am pretty pleased with creeperhost atm, i have a zombie server running with 6 ppl and haven't had much lag, even tho some of my friends/users are pretty heavy users. I need to figure out a way to decrease their foothold on the servers cpu/ram :p

When you looking to host a website you should consider some features like service, support, company reviews,
up time, language support etc.You can either pick dedicated or vps server depends upon your requirements. You can use this site 9Cubehosting.com .Here they are providing enough disk space for your requirement. They also provides good customer support.
