Ive recently been seeing this symble on some of my bees for there names.
Does anyone know what it means? It started ever sense I started
Getting Serums out of bees and putting that in other bees.

By The Way... If you didnt find the symble, it was the [-] on the bees name.

I would love to know what it means.
Thanks for reading. Please reply ;)

This is the symbol to denote bee decay. It's found either when the princess is spawned from a already spawner, or by using an impure serum (I.e. not excellent quality). It means that your princess will eventually not produce another princess on death.

it also happens when you overwork your princess with too many frames

I think this is only in the latest versions of Forestry and I believe only in Alveries. In particular, more than 5 frame housings.

Correct me if I am wrong but this shouldn't effect apiaries?

You know, it's almost as if Sengir doesn't approve of some of the EB tweaks making breeding easier ...

Yeah all the above, bees from swarmers, bees that ppl try add every possible trait with serums, plus if you use 2 uranium in the ubber breeder alveary, the - denotes unstable gene, the bee will die off after a random amount of breedings, by die off you will not get a princess, so that species dies off.

The irony in that picture cannot be overstated. The heroic bee....WILL PERISH!!!!!! (eventually).

A couple of months ago, Sengir made a post stating that the change with mutation-spamming and production-spamming creating unstable bees that will eventually die off was actually requested by Binnie, the mod author of ExtraBees.

Besides, the UberBreeders were just silly and trivialized the entire ExtraBees mod.

yes instant & 100% chance was a little too much, now its a bit of a challenge again.

Forgive my ignorance, but what do people mean by UberBreeders? Is it a particular set up or is it a block that I am not aware of?

Infallible
Particular set-up
Basically you add enough mutators to make the mutation chance at least 50x more likely, which meant any correct combination of bees would produce a pure princess and pure drones of the new species straight away
This was normally coupled with frame housings to make the bee die in one bee tick so that in 30s you can make a new species if you knew the mutation

Alternatively this was done by packing enough soul frames into an alveary to produce the above effects

Now it's been nerfed so that if you do use this method, there is now an element of risk, the higher the mutation chance and the harder you work the bee, the less likely you'll keep that princess alive for long

It was a way with alveraries to add a lot of mutator blocks, which allowed you to breed mutations much faster (aka fewer generations), almost like guaranteed that the offspring will include the next tier/species of bee. Then you would just stabilize those offspring using serums, and in a very short time, you've got the bees you wanted producing all your infinite emeralds/diamonds/ores, etc.

Edit - Ninja'd.

Later idea that could be added is that the [-] mutation bee could turn into a "hulk" bee, destroying your alverary and causing rampage....

@Adonis0 & Golrith thank you both for the responce.
yeah as they said it was alverary that used rain/light blocks, 5 frame housing with chocolate frames in them, 2 mutator blocks with unprocessed uranium, that gave you near instant cycles (bees die & you get the offspring) the 2 mutators gave the required species 99% of the time, its was just a little to easy to get all the species with far less work the the authors of most all the bee related mods intended, so it been nerfed, I miss it a bit at times but its a good nerf over all, & lots of us learned a lot about bees/species/trait in a shorter time.

You mean more tedious? I thought it's already established that tedious is the right adjective to describe mods that don't give you everything in the first 30 minutes of gameplay :)

But this isn't completely tedious, I think it strikes the nice balance with the length and complexity
I mean, it's still possible to get it all done with an uber breeder, but that just comes with risks now instead

Yeah. I was just trying to make sure that no-one describes anything that needs effort in minecraft "challenging". Thread saved! ;)
thread has been saved in 2 posts after OP. so i wonder what are you talking about, but whatever...
