I was starting to experience some severe lag on my server. Not knowing what was causing it, I just kept working.

When I ran out of supplies, I went to go to my mine past a village, and notices several hundred villagers spawned, the village looked like a single blob on the minimap.

I spawned in a nanosaber and killed until it ran out of power, dropped a few pieces of TNT and spread some lava around, but there's still over 200 entities in that village.

And ideas how to fix, or more important- stop them breeding...

It's a local server on my laptop, only my son and I.

Regardless, even with over 300 entities, they were STILL breeding.

Hey, at least your villagers are breeding.

In my first 1.4.2 test world, I spawned near a village and set up shop there. Every night, I fended off the zombies; I repaired every door broken, made sure all houses were always accessible traded with the villagers and so on and so forth.

Every last one died, slowly but surely. Not even when there were only 4 left out of originally over 20, any of them were thinking about procreation. No sire, entire village was a no-baby-zone. Really frustrated me.

I dumped lava over huge chunks of the village to finally get the number down to about 40. Took care of the lag. Hopefully this isn't something I have to do frequently, I have to go back and do some repairs in the village.
